Last night was kind of rough, but we got new bed sheets and pajamas!!!! TWICE!!!! She coughs and gets choked on that darn tube! So here we thought we would be eating today....we are on tube feedings still. The thought behind this, I am told, is that the tummy (gut) has been sick for over 3 weeks and is pouting. Until it is ready to eat, we need to continue with these feeds. IF she cannot tolerate these feeds they will do lipids through the IV but that we be more of a setback than a good thing. She needs the nutrition of the g-tubs food, not just the fats in the lipids to get better. Poor kid is terrified to eat or drink anything, afraid she will throw up again.
On a better note, she talked to me, and I can see her snuggly, empathetic side reemerging. She is talking to me, not the nurses or drs, but she is using sentences again....not just single words. Means she is starting to feel better. She has a headache often it seems, but Tylenol is doing the trick. I know that is because the fluid levels are in flux.
I will make some pictures and post them in a bit!
